The recent establishment of The Malaysia Local Chapter of the Controlled Release Society Inc., also known as MyCRS as approved by the CRS Board on 19th of March 2014 marked a very important milestone in the history of controlled release and drug delivery in Malaysia. MyCRS will serve as a platform for sharing of ideas and technical expertise to those interested in this area of research. In order to successfully achieve this ultimate goal, a series of lectures, discussion groups and conferences will be organized at regular intervals.

The idea of establishing MyCRS was mooted by none other than the President of CRS himself i.e. Prof. Dr. Ian Tucker during his appointment as Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy, UKM in October 2013. The suggestion was warmly accepted by the faculty members and a series of discussions took place in order to ensure the formation of MyCRS benefits every member in the society.

The first meeting regarding the formation of MyCRS was held on the 8th of January 2014 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The meeting was well attended and supported from people of various backgrounds and expertise. Professor Dr. Mohd Cairul Iqbal Mohd Amin was then unanimously elected as the 1st President of MyCRS.
