Embracing the new normal: MyCRS hosts its first fully virtual AGM and Seminar in pandemic times
MyCRS today reached a significant milestone when it hosted its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in full virtual proceedings today for the first time, where the meeting was conducted via zoom platform and online voting. MyCRS thanks its members for their positive reception as well as for their virtual attendance and participation.
“We are pleased to have been able to embrace the new normal and to host our first ever virtual AGM. It is a demonstration of MyCRS continued commitment to our members in fulfilling our duty to them despite the unprecedented circumstances and importantly, in ensuring their utmost safety and wellbeing,” said Dr Ng Shiow Fern, the President of MyCRS.
The AGM 2020, held on the 6 August 2020, was conducted virtually in conjunction with the “Topical and Transdermal Drug Delivery Seminar”. The event was attended by over 65 participants. The first invited speaker was a young scientist, Dr Goh Choon Fu from Universiti Sains Malaysia and he presented a talk entitled “Electrospinning, a new spin on cosmetic delivery”. The second speaker was Assoc Prof Dr Hazrina Ab Hdi from International Islamic University Malaysia, who shared her current research on the “Role of honey as a wound healing agent”. Assoc Prof Dr Shariza Sahudin, the third speaker, delivered her talk on “Current trends in cosmetic research”, which highlights Malaysia’s direction in topical and cosmetic research.
At the AGM, Dr Ng provided a summary of 2019’s performance, current initiatives and future plans in this challenging times. Dr Ng was also re-elected as the President for 2020-2022 while Dr Fu Ju Yen, a senior scientist from Malaysia Palm Oil Board, was elected as the new Vice-President. Acknowledging that 2020 was an extraordinary year so far due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr Ng ensured that MyCRS’s responsibility and commitment is to continue supporting access to a global network of inter-disciplinary scientists and industry professionals. Through a virtual seminar series organized at regular intervals as well as the upcoming CRS Annual Meeting and Exposition 2021, members can make meaningful connections to advance their research, products, and career.
