Over the last years, nanomedicine has been extensively researched in various biomedical fields, including diagnosis, monitoring, drug delivery, prevention and treatment of diseases. Despite that, nanomedicine translation has not progressed as rapidly as the plethora of positive preclinical studies would have suggested. It remains challenging to commercialise nanotechnology in healthcare albeit its therapeutic potential is noteworthy in the development of new drug substances and products.
